Duties
If selected at the GS-12 level, the below responsibilities will be performed in a developmental capacity.
Assist the Law Enforcement Program Manager in the development, administration, and implementation of policies and procedures, standards, and training for the DLA Law enforcement programs.
Establish and maintain safeguards for DLA personnel, installations, and resources from terrorism, vandalism, misuse, theft, assault, espionage, sabotage, unauthorized disclosure, or loss.
Ensure effective implementation of law enforcement policies, procedures, and guidance for the security and safety of DLA employees.
Evaluate the effectiveness of law enforcement and physical security programs at field activities.
Perform a variety of complex administrative program assignments involving all aspects of strategic human capital planning, workforce development and effectiveness for the DLA Police.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Physical Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Gs-12
Reviewing and providing recommendations to resolve conflicts in law enforcement and/or physical security policy and program objectives.
Utilizing judgment in applying standardized guidelines and procedures for Police Officer training requirements.
Performing independent reviews and recommending actions involving well-established criteria, methods, techniques, and procedures related to law enforcement and physical security programs.
GS-13:
Reviewing and providing recommendations to resolve conflicts in law enforcement and/or physical security policy and program objectives.
Developing standardized guidelines and procedures for Police Officer training requirements.
Developing short and long-range workforce training, development and effectiveness plans, including implementation milestones and cost estimates.
Participating in OSD-level working groups for law enforcement and physical security.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

This position is included in the Security Professional Education Development Program as of October 1, 2022; all employees formally assigned to this position after this date are required to complete specific training IAW DoDM 3305.13 and DLAI 3305.13, except for term or temporary assignments as described i n DLAI 3305.13. This position requires a Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification(SFPC) conferral within two years of the established employee entry on duty or initial assignment date to this position IAW DoDM 3305. 1 3 and DLAI 3305.15, Security Professional Education Development (SPeD)Program.

Drug-Free Workplace Policy
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.
Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six-month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test. Employees in drug testing designated positions are subject to random drug testing.
The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids.
ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is a Schedule I drug and is illegal.
